The qualification holder  will be able to:

(general competences)

  • autonomously learn and develop professionally,
  • think in an analytical and synthetic manner which is important for understanding written and oral technical texts in foreign language,
  • master research methods of interlingual studies and translatology,
  • combine the methodology of intercultural studies and translatology with the methodology of another discipline, in order to obtain new research results,
  • critically assess own and others’ research findings of the German and Slovenian language, German literature and intercultural components on which they are based,
  • develop communication skills for a tolerant and fair professional discourse in German,
  • participate in a group work in a constructive manner and participate in work among groups,
  • establish the principle of autonomy and connectedness in own professional work,
  • practically apply their knowledge, e.g. presentations, business correspondence in German,
  • work with technical means of a modern workplace, e.g. electronic translation tools and information systems.

  • publicly engage in encouraging a higher written and reading culture in Slovenian,
  • demonstrate knowledge of the characteristics in the fields of history, culture, media, education and economy of the German-speaking area and Slovenian territory,
  • demonstrate knowledge of fundamental principles and goals of the most important international organisations,
  • autonomously follow current world events and put international organisations in this context,
  • demonstrate knowledge of the fundamental principles of professional ethics and find meaning for ethical values in the discipline,
  • demonstrate knowledge of the common professional practice and conditions for self-employment,
  • demonstrate knowledge of general business communication,
  • build a professional awareness and demonstrate familiarity with the role of a professional interlingual clerk and translator,
  • master the standard German and Slovenian spelling and pronunciation,
  • master and understand morphemic, morphological and lexical categories, demonstrate knowledge of syntactic and textual structure of both languages,
  • understand word-formation, semantic and phraseological relations in the German and Slovenian language from the point of view of modern theoretical approaches in linguistics,
  • demonstrate knowledge of older and modern flows of the English and Slovenian literature,
  • independently follow current linguistic and literary phenomena, and put them in the context of already acquired knowledge of both languages,
  • perform a contrastive analysis of texts and phenomena on the basis of the previously acquired knowledge of the stated fields from an intercultural point of view,
  • translate less complex texts from Slovenian to German on the basis of functional approach,
  • translate medium complex texts from various fields from German to Slovenian on the basis of functional and expressive approaches,
  • offer arguments for possible translations in the language pair German–Slovenian from the point of view of translatologic and theoretical models,
  • search and use parallel texts,
  • create alternative translations,
  • demonstrate knowledge of the basic techniques of consecutive, simultaneous and whispered interpreting,
  • demonstrate knowledge of the technique for making written notes in the consecutive interpreting,
  • perform consecutive, simultaneous and whispered interpreting of less complex texts,
  • make glossaries,
  • use electronic accessories and manuals.
The qualification holder  is qualified for:

  • contrastive analysis of texts and phenomena on the basis of already acquired knowledge about the mentioned areas from an intercultural point of view,
  • translation of less demanding texts from Slovene into Hungarian on the basis of a functional approach,
  • translation of moderately demanding texts from various fields from Hungarian into Slovene on the basis of a functional approach and an expressive approach,
  • argumentation of possible translations in the Hungarian-Slovenian language pair from the point of view of translatological-theoretical models,
  • search and use of parallel texts,
  • preparation of alternative translations,
  • knowledge of basic techniques of consecutive, simultaneous and whispered interpretation,
  • knowledge of writing techniques for consecutive interpretation,
  • consecutive, simultaneous and whispered interpretation of less demanding texts,
  • making glossaries,
  • use of electronic gadgets and manuals.
Ocenjevanje in zaključevanje

Students' knowledge is assessed by means of practical exercises and seminar papers, and also via products, projects, performances, services, etc. and by examinations. Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

Napredovanje

In order to progress to the second year students must accumulate at least 24 credits in the suggested study programme and a certain number of credits, prescribed by the second part of the double-subject study programme. In order to enrol in the third year students must accumulate at least 24 credits in the suggested study programme and a certain number of credits, prescribed by the second part of the double-subject study programme, and complete all the exams from the first year.

For the progression to the second year, the student must collect at least 24 ECTS from the proposed study programme and a certain number of ECTS, which is provided for in the second part of the double-major study programme. For the progression to the third year, he/she must collect at least 24 ECTS from the proposed study programme and a certain number of ECTS, which is provided for in the second part of the double-major study programme, and pass all exams from the first year.

Pogoji za pridobitev javne listine

Students complete the double-subject study programme when they have completed all the requirements prescribed by the study programme in both parts of the double-subject study programme, accumulating in total 180 credits (90 credits in each individual subject of the double-subject study programme).

The student completes the double-major study programme when he / she completes all the obligations prescribed by the study programme in both parts of the double-major study programme and thus collects a total of at least 180 ECTS (90 ECTS in one and 90 ECTS in the other part of the double-major study programme).
