The qualification holder will be able to:

Students will be able to: 
General competences:

• analyse, synthesise, foresee and plan solutions and consequences in complex fields of expertise, also in new and unknown circumstances with a holistic (multi-disciplinary) approach, connect knowledge with resolving complex situations, assess complex situations in the field of health sciences in an independent, autonomous, systematic and critical manner;
• innovatively contribute to the development and application of new ideas, related to research;
• autonomously perform professional work and make professional decisions; 
• critically self-evaluate and evaluate the efficiency and success of the chosen methods and procedures, work also with simple and incomplete information, but taking into account the social and ethical responsibility, related to the introduction of knowledge and decision-making;
• demonstrate communication competences and skills for working in international environment; explain decisions as well as knowledge and reasons, on which they are based, in a clear and unambiguous way, to an audience of experts as well as non experts;
• demonstrate more in-depth and specialised understanding, broader academic perspective and new competences in comparison to undergraduates; 
• demonstrate understanding of research work in the field of health sciences and actively conduct research; 
• lead team work, work in a team, tolerate and take into account constructive criticism and comments; 
• critically verify information and events in local, national and international contexts and events; 
• demonstrate a commitment to professional ethics an a capacity for ethical reflection in ethical dilemmas that arise in healthcare, think about ethical questions critically;
• analyse processes of medical policy in Slovenia and EU and the connection of economical ageing in relation to the ageing of population; 
• form a broader view in understanding the interconnectedness of various risk factors, various environments and characteristics of individuals in pathogenesis of individual diseases, as well as the meaning of a wider social environments in ensuring the conditions for maintaining and restoring health; 
• teach and educate healthy and sick population, social communities, groups and individuals about maintenance of health and well-being; 
• understand approaches and issues in the field of programme implementation in the framework of public health in practice;
• recognise a critically ill person and take the most urgent measures to prevent deterioration of health; 
• understand the objective and functions of individual types of healthcare organisations and services, and how they are interconnected; • introduce supervision in a lifelong learning and humanisation of a relationships culture in the medical field; 
• introduce modern approaches and findings in the field of quality monitoring in the medical field and in the field of innovativeness; 
• handle human capital using coaching techniques;
• encourage and spread values in the intergenerational environment;
• establish a link between theory and practice of the methods of analysis of the living and working environment.

Subject-specific competences: 

• understand health sciences as a scientific discipline; 
• use the models of health sciences and study the concepts in relation to the art and science of health sciences; 
• monitor, critically evaluate and apply modern development trends (European and worldwide) in the field of organisation and management, as the important component of healthcare activity, healthcare policies and public health concerns; 
• organise, plan and supervise processes and lead healthcare teams on all levels of healthcare activity, with the common fundamental objective of enhancing the quality of healthcare; 
• study, design, develop and introduce modern solutions in the field of organisation, planning and supervising the processes of health sciences and lead healthcare teams using scientific methods and procedures; 
• develop personally and professionally, and unselfishly forward these skills and knowledge to co-workers in their healthcare team, and act in a collective spirit; 
• think and act in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary working environments and teams; 
• actively participate in conducting research and performing expert work; 
• resolve problems, or introduce changes on the basis of research results and apply the evidence in the clinical practice; 
• generate individual phenomena in a whole and understand them; 
• consider ethical aspects in treating patients and co-workers, in leading and management as well as in organisation of work in healthcare and social institutes; 
• apply the methods for quantitative, qualitative and action research, which they had already become familiar with from the scientific viewpoint, in order to discover and examine in depth the phenomena in health sciences; 
• organise care for the elderly (in institutions and at home) and clinical characteristics of ageing; 
• comprehensively and systematically adapt the treatment of patients according tot he relevant physical, psychical, social, cultural, spiritual and social factors; 
• inform, educate, teach and supervise patients and their families; 
• master approaches, problems and solutions in establishment of inter-sectoral work and networking of organisations that are active in the field of disease preventions and health strengthening; 
• inform relevant emergency services in good time and participate in the emergency procedures; 
• recognise the importance and roles of organising healthcare organisations; 
• create a development strategy of a healthcare organisation in a changing environment; 
• introduce supervision as a process of monitoring professional work, that leads to better professional abilities and personal growth in a vocational as well as general human viewpoint, and protects from burnout at work as well; 
• lead important processes in healthcare, understand concepts and ways of using clinical ways, quality standards and guidance; 
• use the coaching method in personal and development growth and career planning; 
• establish positive intergenerational relationships;
• understand the ways of ergonomic intervention and therapy.
