Anyone who has graduated in the field of social sciences or humanities can enroll in the first year of the master's study programme of the second-cycle of Political Science at:

  • a first-cycle study programme or
  • a professional higher study programme (adopted before 11.6.2004).

Anyone who has completed a first-cycle study programme or a professional higher study programme (adopted before 11 June 2004) in other professional fields may also be enrolled in the study programme if he / she has completed study obligations prior to enrollment, which are essential for continuing studies 10 to 60 ECTS. They are determined by the competent commission according to the diversity of the professional field. Those who have completed equivalent education abroad also meet the conditions for enrollment. In case of restricted enrollment, candidates will be selected based on the average grade of the undergraduate study.

Subject-specific competences:

  • in-depth knowledge in the fields of political science and the wider field of social sciences (sociology, sociology of religion, economic and business sciences, law) and humanities (classical languages, philosophy, philosophy of science, etc.) and the arts;
  • the ability to distinguish, describe and explain various past and especially current political phenomena, which are increasingly intertwined with accompanying social phenomena and present them in the form of scientific interpretation using appropriate scientific research methods (globalization, ideology, modern citizenship, social impact of science and technology, etc. .);
  • ability to read,  interpret the most demanding classical as well as modern texts in the field of political philosophy and political theory (in parallel also in classical languages);
  • the ability to analytically investigate the causes and reasons for various social, production, cultural and artistic phenomena that are in one way or another related to the field of politics and public action in general;
  • the ability to problematize the role of science and technology in modern society and to draw attention to its ethical and practical dimensions;
  • understand the importance of religion in the modern world and its role in the context of politics, especially the interaction between the Islamic and Christian worlds;
  • ability to advise in the field of intercultural cooperation, both in business and in diplomacy and in the operation of non-governmental organizations;
  • ability to make decisions in public matters where the interests of different stakeholders need to be taken into account;
  • ability to write professional journalism and competently comment on public events;
  • ability to plan, organize, coordinate and manage events and projects of a public nature, as well as work systems.

Assesment and completion:

Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

Progress:

Students may progress to the second year if they meet the following condition:

  • They completed the first year of study obligations in the amount of at least 48 ECTS.

In exceptional cases and with appropriate justification, progression to the second year may also be allowed with 42 ECTS achieved. The student's application for outstanding progress is considered by the competent commission of the faculty in accordance with internal acts and applicable national legislation. Applications for outstanding promotion to a higher year are considered on a case-by-case basis. All missing obligations from the first year must be completed by the student no later than the defense of the master's thesis.

A full-time student may repeat the first year due to non-fulfillment of obligations if he / she has collected at least 30 ECTS of the enrolled year.

Conditions for obtaining a public document:

Students who have enrolled in a study programme successfully complete their studies when they complete all the obligations prescribed by the study programme and prepares and successfully defends the master's thesis, thus collecting all 120 ECTS.

If a student has enrolled according to the criteria for transfers to UP FM in the second year, he / she must complete at least 60 ECTS in order to complete his / her studies at UP FM. He can transfer other credit points from other educational institutions, obtain them through mobility at home or abroad, or apply for recognition of knowledge and skills acquired before enrollment.
