General competences

The qualification holder will be able to:

  • think in a logical, abstract, analytical and synthetic manner,
  • participate in addressing technical issues,
  • demonstrate knowledge of basic research methods and creatively transfer them from one area to another,
  • interrelate the obtained knowledge and competences from both their fields of expertise and with various other fields,
  • use their knowledge in other problem areas (ability to transfer) and address them in an interdisciplinary manner,
  • be more flexible in identifying and resolving concrete issues due to knowing two fields of expertise,
  • more comprehensively approach to keeping records of and addressing problems,
  • use two different scientific discourses which enable them to offer more valid argumentation,
  • demonstrate greater ability to communicate, which derives from the understanding of two points of view and enables them a successful inclusion in teamwork,
  • contextualise information (in at least double manner),

Subject-specific competences, acquired in the programme

Students will be capable of:

  • general insight into fundamental concepts of the history of philosophy and modern philosophies,
  • reflection in the fields of philosophy and humanities, critical evaluation of social situations and position argumentation,
  • linking philosophical findings to the findings from other sciences,
  • practical application of philosophical knowledge and core concepts,
  • reading, commenting, interpreting and critically evaluating basic and other texts of philosophy and philosophy of culture,
  • ethical consideration, aesthetic evaluation, and transferring knowledge and findings to all levels of social life.

Assesment and completion:

Students' knowledge is assessed by means of practical exercises and seminar papers, and also via products, projects, performances, services, etc. and by examinations. Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

Progress:

In order to advance from the first to the second year students must have fulfilled all requirements prescribed by the syllabus and individual curricula for the first year, for a total of 60 credits. In order to advance from the second to the third year students must have fulfilled all the study requirements prescribed by the syllabus and individual curricula for the second year, for a total of 60 credits, i.e. they must accumulate 120 credits from the first and second year in total.

Conditions for obtaining a public document:

In order to complete the two-disciplinary studies students must have fulfilled all requirements laid down in the study programmes and curricula of individual subjects, for a total of 90 credits. Students complete the studies only after they have fulfilled, in both selected disciplines, all the requirements laid down by the two study programmes and curricula of individual subjects, for a total of 180 credits. In the last year of the studies students must create an appropriate bachelor's thesis with a successful defence.
