In accordance with the competences of a nursing care technician, all candidates, with the exception of those who have passed a final examination or vocational matura in a healthcare technician or nursing technician programme, must complete 80 hours of an introductory nursing care programme.

Assesment and completion:

Examination performance is scored as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, the candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

Progress:

In order to progress to the second year, students must complete examinations and clinical exercises in the following subjects: Healthcare (12 ECTS credits), Anatomy, physiology, pathology (4 ECTS credits), Care of the elderly with geriatrics (4 ECTS credits), Clinical training (9 ECTS credits). Progression to a higher year is not possible even as an exception unless the student has passed the examination in Nursing care (12 ECTS credits). In order to progress from the second year to the third year, students must have completed all first-year examinations and examinations and all exercises in the following second-year subjects: Nursing care of children and adolescents with paediatrics (5 ECTS credits), Nursing care of women with gynaecology and obstetrics (3 ECTS credits), Nursing care of internal medicine patients with internal medicine (6 ECTS credits), Nursing care in gynaecology/obstetrics (7 ECTS credits), Nursing care in paediatrics (6 ECTS credits), Nursing care in internal medicine (11 ECTS credits). Students may progress to the third year when they have accumulated 60 ECTS credits from the first year and 38 ECTS credits from the second year.
