Learning outcomes:

Certificate-holders will be able to:

  • participate in the measurement and sorting of sawn wood,
  • prepare sawn wood for natural and technical drying,
  • use basic workshop documentation,
  • use hand tools and power tools safely,
  • work safely with basic woodworking machinery,
  • make economical use of materials and energy,
  • make simple joinery products with a high standard of workmanship,
  • carry out simple processes of surface treatment of wood and wooden panels.

Certificate holders build on their key vocational knowledge and abilities with key general knowledge in line with national standards.

Evaluator:

Verification and assessment are carried out by committees for the verification and validation of national vocational qualifications, appointed by the National Examination Centre (NEC). Committee members must be licensed by the National Examination Centre. Licences may be found here.

Assesment and completion:

Students' vocational abilities and skills and the fulfilment of conditions to obtain credits in accordance with the relevant education programme are established through verification and assessment. Assessment of students also takes into account non-formally acquired knowledge, which must be adequately demonstrated. Students are assessed using scores from 5 (excellent) to 1 (inadequate).

Conditions for obtaining a public document:

Students must successfully (i.e. with passing grades) complete all general education subjects, compulsory vocational modules and the open part of the curriculum. They must also complete all extracurricular activities, practical on-the-job training and pass a school-leaving examination.
The school-leaving examination comprises a product/service and an oral presentation.
