Learning outcomes:

Certificate holders will be able to:

  • plan, lead and monitor work in the nature protection field,
  • implement environmental protection measures to a high quality, in accordance with nature protection legislation,
  • maintain the natural and cultural landscape and implement measures to preserve the vitality of a protected area,
  • inform the public about the importance of valuable natural features, the protection of natural goods and resources, environmental protection and spatial regulation,
  • participate with specialised services in preparing technical measures for the regulation of space and monitor the implementation of environmental protection measures,
  • control and guide visitors to a protected area,
  • carry out analyses of environmental parameters and complete technological documentation,
  • seek rational and professional solutions in the implementation of activities in the working environment,
  • use modern ICT to communicate and effectively seek, evaluate, store and process data and information,
  • cooperate in a group and communicate in writing and orally with co-workers, experts and customers using basic professional terminology in the nature protection field,

(elective)

  • manage and maintain facilities and plants for the production, distribution and use of renewable energy sources,
  • supervise the functioning of composting facilities and organic treatment plants (constructed wetlands),
  • supervised individual phases of the production and storage of biodiesel,
  • implement and supervise the process of acquisition of biogas,
  • collect and process wood biomass,
  • implement regular control and programmes of guided visits to a protected area.

Certificate holders build on their key vocational knowledge and abilities with key general knowledge in line with national standards.

Assesment and completion:

Students' vocational abilities and skills and the fulfilment of conditions to obtain credits in accordance with the relevant education programme are established through verification and assessment. Assessment of students also takes into account non-formally acquired knowledge, which must be adequately demonstrated. Students are assessed using grades from 5 (excellent) to 1 (inadequate).

Progress:

Students may progress to the next year if at the end of the academic year they pass all general education subjects and relevant vocational modules set out in the school’s operational curriculum, and have completed all extracurricular activities and practical on-the-job training, or progress on the basis of a programme faculty decision.

Conditions for obtaining a public document:

Students must successfully (i.e. with passing grades) complete general education subjects, compulsory and elective vocational modules, and the open part of the curriculum. They must also complete extracurricular activities work placement requirements and pass the vocational matura examination.

A vocational matura comprises a compulsory section (written and oral examination in Slovene, written and oral examination in nature protection) and an elective section (written and oral foreign language or mathematics examination, and a product/service and an oral presentation).
