Fulfilment of one of the following conditions:

  • the candidate has obtained a secondary vocational qualification (any stream) and has at least three years of professional experience,
  • the candidate has obtained a secondary technical qualification (any stream) and has at least two years of professional experience,
  • the candidate has obtained a higher vocational qualification or first-cycle professional higher education qualification (any stream) and has at least one year of professional experience.

Learning outcomes:

Master craftsman level:

  • undertake more complex diagnosis, set-up, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles (private, commercial), motorcycles and trailers, transport, construction, agricultural and other machinery and devices with internal combustion engines, their assemblies and parts;
  • undertake more complex diagnosis, set-up, maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic devices and assemblies in motor vehicles, motorcycles and trailers, transport, construction, agricultural and other machinery and other devices with internal combustion engines, including their electric drives, power reservoirs and regulation and control devices;
  • maintain and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems in motor vehicles, motorcycles and trailers, and in transport, construction, agricultural and other machinery and devices with internal combustion engines;
  • carry out authorised checks of the set-up of motor vehicles, assemblies and systems with a particular emphasis on braking and control systems, on the correct functioning of internal combustion engines and devices for cleaning exhaust gases, and technical inspections of motor vehicles (daily, monthly, annual);
  • equip motor vehicles, motorcycles and trailers, and transport, construction, agricultural and other machinery and devices with internal combustion engines, with additional equipment and accessories;
  • undertake simple maintenance of bodywork and frames of motor vehicles, motorcycles and trailers, apply anti-corrosion protection to hollow parts and the chassis, apply paint to parts of bodywork affected by repairs;
  •  maintain and repair tyres and wheels on motor vehicles, motorcycles and trailers.

Evaluator:

Members of examination boards for each examination unit separately. Appointed by the minister responsible for education. Appointment may be renewed every 4 years.

Assesment and completion:

Candidates sit a master craftsman examination, which consists of four units:

  • a practical unit,
  • a technical and theoretical part,
  • a business and economics part,
  • an education part.

Conditions for obtaining a public document:

Candidates must pass all four units of the master craftsman examination to receive the title of master craftsman.
