Learning outcomes:
  • Qualification holders  have acquired in-depth knowledge in all important fields of environmental science such as water, soil and air pollution.
  • They are able to use measuring techniques to identify and control pollution and manage waste and demonstrate knowledge of the consequences of the waste disposal.
  • They are familiar with the chemical, physical and biological effects and health consequences of pollution and with the legal, economic and administrative aspects of environmental protection.
  • They are also able to acquire knowledge from research methodology, address problems using scientific methods and express substantive and methodological expertise.

Assesment and completion:

Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

In order to enrol in the second year, candidates must have completed at least 15 ECTS credits from the first year, including Modern Directions in Environmental Science I (75% attendance) and at least 33% of the research requirement.

Conditions for obtaining a public document:

In order to complete the programme, students must pass all examinations and complete all course units in all subjects of the curriculum, including elective subjects and research work, and successfully defend a master's thesis, for a total of at least 120 credits. Graduates of this programme must complete the programme by the 30.9.2016.
