Learning outcomes:

The qualification holders are  trained in the use of the comparative method and thus capable of specialist work in various academic disciplines and will be well acquainted with cultural and scientific development in the USA and with the development of the humanities and social sciences in the USA. They will be familiar with the broad range of common grounds that give insight into the full complexity and interconnectedness of these issues (horizontal expansion), and at the same time will be able to arrive at new findings at the borders of various disciplines.

Assesment and completion:
Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

Progress:

Students may enrol in the second year if they have passed all examinations in compulsory subjects by the end of the first year.

Conditions for obtaining a public document:

In order to complete the programme students must complete all course units during the programme and complete and successfully defend a master's thesis. Graduates of this programme must complete the programme by the 30.9.2016.
