  • a completed first-cycle study programme in another field of the social sciences or humanities, if prior to enrolment the candidate has completed course units essential for further study consisting of 10–60 credits: General Sociology I (6 credits), General Sociology II (6 credits) and Sociological Methodology (6 credits); or
  • a completed professional higher education programme, adopted before 11 June 2004, in a relevant field (sociology); or
  • a completed professional higher education programme in another field, adopted before 11 June 2004, if prior to enrolment the candidate has completed course units essential for further study consisting of 10–60 credits: General Sociology I (6 credits), General Sociology II (6 credits) and Sociological Methodology (6 credits); or
  • a completed academic higher education programme in a relevant field (sociology), adopted before 11 June 2004; as a rule 60 credits are recognised for these candidates; or
  • a completed professional higher education programme in a relevant field (sociology), adopted before 11 June 2004 (and a completed specialisation programme); as a rule, 60 credits are recognised for these candidates.

The qualification holder will be able to:

  • apply knowledge in the implementation of research projects in the field of social sciences, including the management of such projects,
  • analyse and critically evaluate statistical data, carry out complex statistical analyses and apply knowledge in specific working fields,
  • critically analyse and develop theoretical views and select and apply them in the context of resolving specific social problems,
  • demonstrate interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary knowledge of sociology and other fields of the social sciences,
  • analyse social development and changes and predict short-term and long-term consequences.

Assesment and completion:

Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

Progress:

In order to progress to the second year, students must complete first-year course units totalling 48 credits.
