  • a completed first-cycle (Bologna) academic higher education programme: Sociology – two-subject programme with teacher training component at University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Arts; Sociology of Culture – two-subject programme at University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Arts; or Sociology of Culture – single-subject programme at University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Arts; or
  • a completed pre-Bologna academic undergraduate programme in a social sciences or humanities field; the Senate of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ljubljana may prescribe differential examinations consisting of 10–60 credits for these candidates at the proposal of the Department of Sociology; or

Assesment and completion:
Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

In order to progress to the second year, students must have completed course units from the programme totalling 60 credits, which they are expected to complete in the first two semesters.

Conditions for obtaining a public document:

In order to complete the programme, students must complete all course units prescribed by the study programme and the syllabuses of the subjects included in the programme. Students are awarded their master's degree on successfully defending a written master's thesis.
