  • Anyone who has completed a first-cycle study programme in the fields of social sciences, journalism and information, business and administrative sciences, and law and has collected 240 ECTS can enter the second-cycle master's programme without additional conditions.
  • Anyone who has completed a first-cyclestudy programme in the fields of humanities, teacher education and pedagogical sciences, safety and social work, and has collected 240 ECTS, completes. courses from the bridging program worth up to 40 ECTS (8 courses), namely: Fundamentals of Political Science, Political System of the Republic of Slovenia, Introduction to Social Science Research, Introduction to Policy Analysis, Introduction to Public Administration, Fundamentals of Law, Comparative Policies in the Modern World, History of Political ideas. For all the above subjects, the candidate can apply the knowledge acquired in previous education.
  • Anyone who has completed a first-cycle study programme in the fields of social sciences, journalism and information, business and administrative sciences, law, humanities, teacher education and pedagogical sciences, safety and social work and has collected 180 ECTS, enrolling and successfully completing the entire bridging programme and thus collect the missing 60 ECTS. If the candidate has already completed the subjects from the bridging programme, new ones will be assigned to him.

In the case of limited enrollment, better academic performance is taken into account when selecting candidates.

Learning outcomes:

Qualification holders of the postgraduate-master's study of Political Science - Public Administration will thus acquire the following competences:

  • Expertise: improving students' basic knowledge of policy-making processes and the main actors in these processes; understanding the connection between administrative processes and analytical work for policy purposes;
  • Analytical: to develop the skills that individuals need in their professional careers (preparation of analytical research archives and programs in the fields of policy formulation or management and programs for their implementation and control, evaluation, etc.);
  • Knowledge of the environment of the selected area of ​​the Public Administration) and use of methodological tools: develop a sense of realism while promoting innovation through research focused on practical solutions that will directly benefit administrative practice in various fields (processing of statistical and other data, comparative analysis, studies, etc.);
  • Strategic orientation in a certain field: planning, evaluation, finding solutions to problems in the fields of public policies and especially public administration.
  • Team and group work: cooperation, co-operation, fulfilling roles in groups;
  • Communicativeness and written expression: ability of oral and written expression, public presentation and argumentation.

Assesment and completion:

Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

Progress:

The proposed programme is one-year for those students who enter it with 240 credit points and passed any additional conditions. For students who enter the programme with 180 ECTS, the condition for progression is the completion of all study obligations from the bridging programme and thus collected 60 ECTS. exceptionally, a student may enroll from the bridging programme in the master's programme, even if he has not fulfilled all the obligations set out in the bridging programme, when he has justified reasons for this, as defined by the UL statute. In defining the conditions for repeating the year and extending the student status, FDV will follow the applicable higher education legislation and the statute of the University. Postgraduate programme coordinators will have a special role in advising and assisting students. Their duties will be defined by the Rules on the organization and operation of the FDV. Such assignments are also an integral part of the tasks performed by the Postgraduate Studies Department and the International Cooperation Office (advising students on finding study abroad opportunities - programmes such as Socrates-Erasmus and Erasmus Mundus).

Conditions for obtaining a public document:

Completed obligations in subjects according to the programme and preparation of a master's thesis in the range of 15,000 to 20,000 words and positively assessed public defense of the master's thesis before a three-member commission. The master's thesis is evaluated with 20 credit points.
