  • A completed first-cycle study programme in the following ISCED fields: 14 teacher training and teaching work, 22 humanities, 31 social and behavioural sciences, 32 journalism and information, 34 business and administration, 38 law, 76 social work, 85 environmental protection, 86 security studies (including military academies) and a total of 240 credits; or
  • a completed first-cycle study programme in another field consisting of 240 credits, if the candidate completes course units essential for further study totalling up to 20 credits (4 subjects) as follows: English Language I and II, Polemology, Defence and Security System; for all these subjects candidates may receive credit for knowledge acquired in previous education or training; or
  • a completed first-cycle study programme in any field consisting of 180 credits; the candidate must complete an additional 60 credits from the Social Sciences Preparatory Programme in subjects selected by agreement with the programme administrator; or
  • a completed four-year professional higher education programme offered before the introduction of the Bologna reform and completed by the 2015/2016 academic year at the latest, in one of the fields listed in the first indent; or
  • a completed four-year professional higher education programme in another field offered before the introduction of the Bologna reform and completed by the 2015/2016 academic year at the latest; candidates complete subjects totalling up to 40 credits under the Social Sciences Preparatory Programme, by agreement with the programme administrator; or
  • a completed three-year professional higher education programme offered before the introduction of the Bologna reform and completed by the 2015/2016 academic year at the latest; candidates may enrol in the master's programme under the conditions specified in the third indent.

Learning outcomes:

The qualification holder will be able to:

  • undertake autonomous analytical work,
  • analyse social phenomena,
  • advise on various trends in society and on development and management in the field of national and international security,
  • synthesise knowledge in a specific field and apply it in the resolution of a specific problem,
  • synthesise and contextualise analytical findings,
  • undertake, coordinate and organise defence studies research,
  • use various research methods and techniques,
  • demonstrate broad, critical and reflective understanding of a selected environment, the structures and functioning of (legal) norms and institutions, and the dynamics of development, e.g. international relations, public policies, public administration, social policy, defence studies, human resource management, etc.,

  • differentiate between the essential and non-essential and search for more long-term solutions to fundamental problems,

Assesment and completion:

Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).
