The qualification holder will be able to:
General competences:
- Broad general knowledge of the field of social sciences;
- Excellent knowledge of the international community in its broad structural and developmental aspects;
- The knowledge of the functioning of international institutions and their organisational-administrative cultures and procedures;
- The ability of independent thinking and activity in the field of international relations and in the international community;
- Professional capability of managing formal and informal decision-making processes, and of their characteristics;
- Broad analytical abilities for issues related to international relations;
- The ability to synthesise analytical findings and notions;
- The knowledge and understanding of other cultures, societies and political communities;
- Organisational and leadership abilities enabling the knowledge and coordination of various fields of international relations;
- Active knowledge of foreign languages;
- IT literacy;
- Communication abilities in social and public spheres, the establishment of international networks that enable the students to achieve global connections.
Subject-specific competences:
- The ability of strategic consideration and decision-making in the field of work;
- The ability to work in a multicultural group, to manage and coordinate;
- Analytical-research abilities for independent research work in the field of international relations;
- The ability to use methodological approaches and analytical tools to solve individual problem types related to the actors’ conduct in international relations;
- Broadened and deepened knowledge from the sphere of international relations, more closely associated with the knowledge of international law policies, protection of the rights of minorities and conflict management;
- Broadened and deepened knowledge from the sphere of international relations, more closely associated the knowledge of international finance, international development and cooperation in development (which addresses the problem of inequality and the ways to reduce it), and of international business;
- Broadened and deepened knowledge from the sphere of international relations, more closely associated the knowledge of international governing (international institutions, processes, norms), including the field of diplomacy, and the functioning of these institutions both at the universal and local levels;
- In-depth knowledge of specific types of problems that students will have acquired through elective subjects in modules;
- Knowledge and use of expert terminology in foreign languages;
- Skills of presenting one’s arguments and negotiating skills, including work and negotiations in an intercultural environment.
Students' knowledge is assessed by means of practical exercises and seminar papers, and also via products, projects, performances, services, etc. and by examinations. Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).
Progression to a higher year is possible by completing the obligations corresponding to a minimum of 52 credit points (without special application).
Third-cycle doctoral study programmes (SQF level 10)
Students complete the study course upon the completion of regulatory obligations from the curriculum or recognised obligations corresponding to a total of 120 credit points.
