  • A successfully passed special aptitude test consisting of a test of artistic aptitude (consisting of drawing a figure and creating a relief) and an admission interview with a presentation of the candidate's work in the field of the conservation and restoration of works of art (portfolio); and:
  • a completed first-cycle academic study programme in Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art; or
  • a completed first-cycle study programme in another field, if prior to enrolment the candidate completes course units essential for further study, for a total of between 10 and a maximum 60 credits; candidates complete these course units by passing examinations before enrolling in the second-cycle study programme; or
  • a completed professional higher education programme adopted before the 2004 ZViS in another field, if before enrolment the candidate completes the course units that are essential for further study, for a total of between 10 and a maximum 60 credits, bypassing examinations before enrolling in the second-cycle study programme.

Learning outcomes:
The qualification holder will be able to: 
  • transfer theoretical knowledge into practice, 
  • plan, coordinate and carry out a conservation-restoration intervention take into account the results acquired through research, 
  • plan, coordinate and carry out basic research and analyses, 
  • demonstrate familiarity with materials and techniques, 
  • demonstrate familiarity with contemporary Slovene art and philosophy of art, 
  • provide a stylistic definition of an object, 
  • manage, handle, store and exhibit materials, 
  • resolve problems through the use of new sources of information and the application of scientific methods, 
  • self-educate in own specialist field, 
  • demonstrate initiative and independence in decision-making and the performance of work consonant with experience, 
  • participate in conservation-restoration research projects as a research assistant, 
  • work as part of a team, 
  • cooperate with experts from adjacent fields,
  • communicate with non-experts, 
  • demonstrate highly developed professional, ethical and environmental responsibility.

Assesment and completion:
Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

Progress:

In order to progress to the second year, students must have completed all course units prescribed by the curriculum and individual syllabuses for the first year, for a total of 56 credits.

Conditions for obtaining a public document:

To complete their studies, students must complete all course units prescribed by the study programme and the syllabuses of the individual subjects prescribed in the chosen stream, for a total of 120 credits. Students must write and defend a master's thesis (30 credits). Studies are completed with the successful public defence of a master's thesis that has been awarded a passing grade.
