The qualification holder will be able to:
- apply knowledge, demonstrate understanding and address problems in new, unfamiliar circumstances within broader (or multidisciplinary) environments related to the chemical sciences,
- integrate knowledge, deal effectively with complexity and formulate an assessment despite limited information, while at the same time being aware of the ethical aspects of applying knowledge and judgement,
- communicate knowledge, conclusions and the justifications supporting these conclusions in a clear and unambiguous manner to a specialist and non-specialist audience in their own language and in English,
- pursue lifelong learning and continuous, autonomous, self-directed and responsible personal professional development.
Examination performance is scored as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).
In order to enrol in the second year, students must have completed 60 credits.

Third-cycle doctoral study programmes (SQF level 10)
In order to complete the programme, students must complete course units in all subjects of the study programme in which they have enrolled and write and successfully defend a master's thesis.
