Admission requirements Entry conditions:
  • a diploma in the field of geography from a first-cycle study programme; or
  • a diploma from other professional fields from a first-cycle study programme, if the candidate completes the study obligations that are essential for the continuation of studies before enrollment. Study obligations in the amount of up to 60 credit points (ECTS) are determined by the competent commission of UP FHŠ on the basis of the individual application of the candidate, taking into account the field of previous study. The prescribed obligations may be fulfilled by the candidate during the study at the first-cycle, in further training programmes or other forms of formal education or by taking examinations before enrollment in the master's study programme; or
  • a diploma from other professional fields in a academic higher study programme or specialist study program after completion of professional higher education, adopted before 11 June 2004, if the candidate completes the study obligations prior to enrollment, which are essential for the continuation of studies. Study obligations in the amount of up to 60 credit points (ECTS) are determined by the competent commission of UP FHŠ on the basis of the individual application of the candidate, taking into account the field of previous study. The candidate can perform the prescribed obligations in further training programs or other forms of formal education or by taking exams before enrolling in a master's study program; or
  • a diploma in a comparable study programme abroad, according to which the candidate, in accordance with the law, is granted the right to continue his / her education in the study programme.

Learning outcomes:
The qualification holder is qualified for:
  • knowledge of the basics of karstology, geomorphology of karst, geology of karst and karst caves and waters, problems of protection, development and regulation of karst areas,
  • knowledge of the physical and social geography of the Mediterranean, issues of urban geography and planning in coastal areas,
  • specialist immersion in geographic information systems for physical geography,
  • knowledge of the geography of the European Union, geography of borders and minorities, political geography of stability and security, methodology and techniques of cross-border spatial planning, social geography of Southeast Europe as a specific problematic European region in terms of simultaneous and opposing tendencies of social and spatial convergence and ,,
  • knowledge of elements, factors, problems and processes of geography of tourism, geography of transport, geography of globalization and marginal areas,
  • specialist delving into geographic information systems for social geography,
  • scientific study of areas of natural, social and cultural contact,
  • independent assessment of results and performance of syntheses, as well as development and implementation of specific development policies.

Assesment and completion:

Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

 

Progress:

It is possible to progress to the second year on a regular basis with 54 ECTS. In this case, the student must have completed all obligations in the subjects of (at least one) elective module and in both basic subjects.
