Students will be able to:
(general competences)
- communicate effectively and use technical terminology both in Slovene and in a foreign language,
- demonstrate familiarity with the basics of business etiquette,
- use ICT and relevant programming tools,
- obtain information from technical documentation,
- demonstrate familiarity with regulations relating to project design and quality assurance,
- monitor new developments in the field,
- systematically introduce changes in order to achieve new objectives,
- read and analyse accounting statements and other reports,
- study business outcomes,
- formulate and adopt business decisions,
- protect the company's assets against unauthorised persons,
- take appropriate action in the event of workplace accidents,
- responsibly plan and monitor measures for work in the occupational safety, fire safety and environmental protection fields.
(specific vocational competences)
- demonstrate familiarity with the functioning of electronic communications systems and devices,
- demonstrate knowledge of services in the electronic communications field,
- advise customers on the selection of suitable electronic communications services,
- select and plan communications services that are suitable for the circumstances,
- design and construct telecommunications networks,
- plan, design and document telecommunications networks and services,
- build and install telecommunications infrastructure,
- manage, organise and supervise project implementation,
- administrate telecommunications systems,
- manage and maintain electronic communications systems and devices,
- diagnostics and troubleshooting in electronic communication systems and devices,
- plan and implement quality assurance and security procedures for telecommunications systems and networks,
- keep records, draft reports and archive documents,
- market telecommunications services and devices.
Students' knowledge is assessed by means of practical exercises and seminar papers, and also via products, projects, performances, services, etc. and by examinations. Examination performance is scored as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).
Students may progress to the second year if they have successfully completed first-year modules, subjects and practical training (including practical classes, seminar papers, projects, examinations, etc.) totalling at least 45 credits, where all practical classes and practical training course units must be completed in full.

First-cycle study programmes (SQF, level 7)
In order to complete the programme, students must complete all compulsory modules, for a total of 91 credits: Business communication (19 credits), Standards and regulations (13 credits), Basics of telecommunications (28 credits), Electronic communication systems and Services (23 credits); Business economics (8 credits), one elective module consisting of 19 credits: Multimedia systems (19 credits), Electronic communications networks and devices (19 credits), Marketing and sales (19 credits); freely elective subject (5 credits) and degree thesis (5 credits).
