Into the third level study programme Archeology can enroll candidates who have:

  • graduated from a second level study programme,
  • graduated from a undergraduate university study programme (study program adopted before 11 June 2004),
  • graduated from a study programme referred to in the fourth paragraph of Article 36 of the Higher Education Act, if it is evaluated with 300 credit points and lasted for 5 years.

Candidates who have completed a comparable study programme abroad and who, in accordance with the law, have been granted the right to continue their education in the study programme, also meet the conditions for enrollment.

General competences:

  • competence for independent field and laboratory research of archaeological heritage;
  • ability to scientifically evaluate and interpret archaeological heritage;
  • ability to lead the most demanding scientific research projects;
  • independence in their research and scientific work and efficiency in team research work;
  • ability to implement innovative knowledge; research will contribute to the advancement of the scientific excellence of the profession at regional, national and European level and contribute to the creation of knowledge societies and the transfer of knowledge to the economy,
  • developing generic and transfer skills (competence for teamwork and inter-institutional networking, leadership functions, time and career management and management of material and human resources),
  • ability of ethical reflection and knowledge of intellectual property principles.

Subject-specific competences:

  • expansion of archaeological knowledge after the second level of study;
  • ability to develop individual archaeological concepts and methodologies;
  • deepening knowledge of individual specialist fields of archeology;
  • ability of practical knowledge necessary for the proper conduct of archaeological research;
  • ability to present scientific results in the form of publications and in international scientific periodicals and international projects;
  • ability to implement research work in society, especially in the field of material culture studies, heritage protection, regional planning, identities, intercultural dialogue, evaluation of material and cultural heritage and cultural tourism;
  • ability to independently evaluate results and evaluate and contribute to the development of science in individual fields of historiography;
  • ability to implement results to achieve on knowledge societies;
  • mastering the didactic skills of presenting one's research work and arguing the originality of research;
  • ability to participate in international scientific discussions.

Assesment and completion:

Examination performance is scored as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

Progress:

Students can progress to the second year of the doctoral programme if he / she fulfills all study obligations for the first year. Exceptionally, a student may conditionally enroll in the second year if he / she collects at least 30 credit points (ECTS) in the firstyear, and he / she must collect the missing points from the first year by the end of the second year.

Students can re-enroll in the second year if he / she collects at least 45 credit points (ECTS) from this year, but he / she must have completed all obligations for the first year.

Students can progress to the third year if he / she completes all study obligations from the first and second year of the doctoral study programme Archeology. Exceptionally, a student can enroll in the third year if he / she collects at least 105 credit points

Conditions for obtaining a public document:

The condition for completing the study programme is the collection of 180 ECTS credits, ie. passed all exams, individual research work prescribed by the programme, completed obligations at seminars and successful defense of a doctoral dissertation. With a positive assessment of the doctoral dissertation and its defense, the student completes his / her studies.
