The qualification holder will be able to:

- recognise relational levels, modes of behaviour and the laws of communication at different levels and in different processes,
- demonstrate familiarity with the structuring, functioning and processing of services and the specifics of service activity,
- identify possible ways to resolve conflicts,
- undertake teamwork and project work,
- recognise the importance of different cultural identities,
- demonstrate knowledge of the use of qualitative and quantitative methodological tools,
- demonstrate knowledge of the basics of accounting and financial processes,
- demonstrate knowledge of business communication in two foreign languages,
- demonstrate knowledge of the processes of dying and provide counselling,
- demonstrate knowledge of the principles of macro-, micro- and environmental economics and the economics of human resources necessary for planning a secure old age,
(subject-specific competences)
- recognise the role and position of the elderly person in the process of mutual interaction,
- recognise the needs of the elderly person and correctly formulate a response to them (quality of service therefore requires broader anthropological knowledge),
- demonstrate a competent response that requires the organisation of physiotherapeutic and other occupational and work-based therapies,
- formulate a healthy diet taking into account dietetic principles,
- motivate old people to take part in voluntary employment programmes and other programmes,
- recognise the need for social work approaches to individual segments within the population (immobile and disabled people, younger and older retirees),
- recognise and help formulate activities for old people in the community,
- prepare a business plan and strategic plan to ensure a secure old age,
- react ethically to differences in the population,
- demonstrate familiarity with the structuring, functioning and processing of services and the specifics of service activity,
- demonstrate knowledge of theories in the field of palliative care,
- demonstrate knowledge of the basics of the economic laws of the management of various entities working with old people and their competitive environment,
- demonstrate a good understanding of different organisational entities (old people's homes, special social institutions, sheltered work centres, sheltered housing, associations, assistance for the elderly at home, etc.),
- demonstrate proficiency in dynamic organisation,
- put together a dynamic process of free-time occupation, life and care for an elderly person,
- demonstrate proficiency in e-communication with others, including issues relating to e-business with clients,
- acquire and analyse information from the internet, transfer and understand new methods, paradigms and philosophies in the field of work with the elderly,
- identify trends in the global system,
- demonstrate good understanding of processes in old age and different health conditions and a suitable approach to designing services for assistance,
- identify new technologies, paradigms and philosophies in the treatment of the complexity of concepts of work with the elderly and understand key factors for the development of services in the field of care of the elderly,
- demonstrate familiarity with management in institutions working for and with the elderly,
- design new services in the field of care of the elderly,
- demonstrate proficiency in basic skills in the field of care of the elderly,
- recognise psychiatric problems in old age,
- establish socially responsible operation on the basis of ethical rules and the expectations of society,
- undertake social marketing, fund-raising,
- provide advice and carry out research in all fields of care of the elderly.
Examination performance is scored as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, the candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).
Students must accumulate at least 45 ECTS credits from the first year to progress from the first year to the second year, and at least 45 ECTS credits from the second year and 60 credits from the first year to progress from the second year to the third year (this means that they must have passed all examinations from the first year).
