  • perform oral hygiene for individuals in different stages of life and conditions,
  • acquire knowledge about the importance of teeth, periodontal tissues and the oral cavity,
  • acquire knowledge about the effect of systemic diseases on oral health,
  • provide oral hygiene advice and education to all sections of the population,
  • provide dietary advice with regard to diseases of the teeth and the oral cavity,
  • perform scaling to remove plaque
  • perform root planing,
  • polish and whiten teeth,
  • perform topical fluoridation,
  • perform dental fissure watering,
  • take intraoral X-rays,
  • assist the patient with oral hygiene,
  • perform preventive, diagnostic and curative/therapeutic oral hygiene procedures,
  • perform basic resuscitation procedures,
  • record, keep, monitor and evaluate data on the state of patients' teeth and gums,
  • organise and participate in the process of formal and non-formal education and training.

 

Assesment and completion:

Students' knowledge is assessed by means of practical exercises and seminar papers, and also via products, projects, performances, services and otherwise, and by examinations. Examination performance is scored as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, the candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

 

Progress:

Students progress to the second year if they have successfully completed all subjects from the first year and prepared a written report on practical training.

Students receive a diploma when they have completed all compulsory modules and subjects totalling 105 credits, an elective module totalling 5 credits and a diploma thesis (5 credits).
