The qualification holder will be able to:
General Competences
- The ability to collaborate in an interdisciplinary group,
- The understanding of diversity and multiculturalism, and the ability to work in a multicultural group, the creation of international professional networks that allow for the global connections of students,
- In-depth knowledge of the study field,
- The ability to use knowledge from the field of European Studies in practice,
- The ability to adapt to new situations, the solving of problems,
- The ability to learn and follow the changes in the processes,
- The ability to be critical and self-critical,
- Decision-making and project management,
- Information literacy (word processors, databases, other tools),
- Interpersonal competences and negotiating skills,
- Communication abilities in social and public spheres, oral and written communication in the mother tongue and two foreign professional languages,
- Basic research knowledge and competences.
Subject-specific competences
- The understanding and use of European integration theories,
- The ability to distinguish between decision-making processes and the impact of various European international institutions,
- Economic analysis of European integration and of the EU’s actions and role in the global economy,
- The understanding of the role played by Central and Eastern European countries in Europe,
- Implementation of the analysis of EU public policies and evaluation of the effects of these policies,
- Sociological and political science-related comparison and explanation of dynamics between social groups and state actors in Europe,
- Cultural interpretation of Europe’s manifestations, especially its relationship to the Balkans,
- Analysis and synthesis of foreign policies, and critical evaluation of EU’s actorship in the world
- Legal knowledge about the European human rights protection regime,
- Interdisciplinary use of theoretical-conceptual and strategic tools,
- The ability to communicate in the mother tongue and in foreign languages based on expert terminology,
- The ability to work in a multicultural environment.
Students' knowledge is assessed by means of practical exercises and seminar papers, and also via products, projects, performances, services, etc. and by examinations. Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).
Progression to a higher year is possible by completing the obligations corresponding to a minimum of 52 credit points (without special application). In the case of extraordinary circumstances (set out in the Statutes of the University of Ljubljana), also those students who have accumulated at least 44 credit points of their current year may progress to the following year based on their approved application/request.
Third-cycle doctoral study programmes (SQF level 10)
Students complete the study course upon the completion of regulatory obligations from the curriculum or recognised obligations corresponding to a total of 120 credit points.
