Learning outcomes:
Certificate holders will be able to: 
  • plan and organise work on an agricultural holding relative to the existing conditions, and taking account of agricultural legislation and the principles of sustainable development,
  • lead and monitor work in plant and animal production and supplementary activities,
  • implement work in plant and animal production and supplementary activities while observing environmental protection,
  • recognise the causes of signs of disease and damage on plants, and select appropriate measures and provide protection,
  • safely use and handle harmful and hazardous substances and waste from agricultural production and animal rearing, and prevent environmental pollution,
  • safely use agricultural machinery, equipment and tools and provide basic maintenance for them,
  • harvest and store agricultural products,
  • provide advice in procuring and selling agricultural crops, products, services and semi-products for the requirements of agricultural production and animal rearing,
  • make a simple business plan for agricultural production and make calculations,
  • market agricultural crops, products and services,
  • perform work independently, accurately and responsibly,
  • cooperate in a group and communicate in writing and orally with co-workers, experts and clients, using the basic professional terminology in the field of agriculture,
  • communicate with co-workers, clients and others in organising work, carrying out specific tasks and solving problems,
  • use modern information and communication technology to communicate and to plan and organise cost-effective work and work procedures in the professional field,
  • protect and rationally use natural energy sources and raw materials,
Elective: 
  • cultivating and tending field crops and vegetables,
  • domestic animal husbandry and preparation of animals and animal products for processing and sale,
  • cultivating and tending grapevines and grape processing,
  • cultivating and tending fruit plants,
  • maintaining and ensuring upkeep of the natural landscape.
Certificate holders supplement their key vocational knowledge and abilities with key general knowledge in line with national standards.

Assesment and completion:
Students' vocational abilities and skills and the fulfilment of conditions to obtain credits in accordance with the relevant education programme are established through verification and assessment. Assessment of students also takes into account non-formally acquired knowledge, which must be adequately demonstrated. Students are assessed using grades from 5 (excellent) to 1 (inadequate).

Progress:
Students may progress to the next year if at the end of the academic year they pass all general education subjects and relevant vocational modules set out in the school’s operational curriculum and have completed all extracurricular activities and work placement requirements, or progress on the basis of a decision of the programme teaching staff.

Progression:

Matura/vocational course, higher vocational education (SQF level 6), professional higher education (SQF level 7) and academic higher education (SQF level 7).

Conditions for obtaining a public document:
Students must successfully (i.e. with passing grades) complete all general education subjects, compulsory vocational modules, three elective vocational modules and the open part of the curriculum. They must also complete extracurricular activities and work placement requirements and pass the vocational matura examination.
A vocational matura comprises a compulsory section (written and oral examination in Slovene and agriculture) and an elective section (written and oral foreign language or mathematics examination, and product/service and an oral presentation).
