Learning outcomes:

Certificate-holders will be able to:

  • use professional knowledge, information technology and software in the addressing of real practical problems within the field,
  • use technical terminology, process data in order to obtain information and manage technical and technological documentation,
  • study and use technical and technological documentation, technical regulations and standards and technical drawings when carrying out mining, geotechnical and geotechnological works,
  • prepare a plan for the use of drilling tools and use tools, machinery and measuring instruments when carrying out mining and geotechnical works,
  • carry out drilling and blasting work in mining and geotechnics and plan mining works,
  • store, handle and correctly use explosive devices in mining,
  • identify the characteristics of pit ventilation and carry out measurements of ventilation and water parameters,
  • implement ventilation and drainage systems in mining and geotechnical structures,
  • study the geological structure of rock, estimate movements of slopes, landslip areas and embankments and carry out remediation,
  • carry out geodesic measurements in mines and evaluate results,
  • carry out procedures for the storage, dumping and transport of raw materials,
  • carry out technological processes in the remediation and re-cultivation of the surface and underground spaces,
  • take sustainability into account during implementation of spatial developments,
  • implement and provide for measures for occupational health and safety and environmental protection,
  • conduct themselves economically, responsibly and socially in the working environment,

Elective:

  • carry out technological processes for the building, maintenance and liquidation of underground spaces, tunnels and shafts,
  • use and maintain extraction and transport systems in a pit,
  • carry out technological processes in the extraction, enrichment and processing of mineral, fossil and secondary materials,
  • use and maintain extraction and transport systems for the surface,
  • carry out geo-mechanical procedures in the field and in the laboratory,
  • use and maintain extraction and transport systems for the surface.

Certificate holders build on their key vocational knowledge and abilities with key general knowledge in line with national standards.

Assesment and completion:

Students' vocational abilities and skills and the fulfilment of conditions to obtain credits in accordance with the relevant education programme are established through verification and assessment. Assessment of students also takes into account non-formally acquired knowledge, which must be adequately demonstrated. Students are assessed using scores from 5 (excellent) to 1 (inadequate).

Progress:

Students may progress to a higher year if at the end of the academic year they achieve a passing grade in all general education subjects and relevant vocational modules set out in the school's operational curriculum for the year and have completed all extracurricular activities and all work placement requirements, or progress on the basis of a decision of the programme teaching staff.

Progression:

Matura/vocational course, higher vocational education (SQF level 6), professional higher education (SQF level 7) and academic higher education (SQF level 7).

Conditions for obtaining a public document:

Students must successfully complete general education subjects, compulsory vocational modules, elective vocational modules and the open part of the curriculum. They must also complete extracurricular activities and work placement requirements and pass the vocational matura examination.
The vocational matura comprises a compulsory section (written and oral examination in Slovene, written and oral examination in mining works with ventilation and drainage) and an elective section (written and oral foreign language or mathematics examination, and a product/service and an oral presentation).
