Assesment and completion:

The methods, forms and structure of checking and assessing knowledge enable UL students to properly check the achieved learning outcomes and competences. Students' knowledge is checked and assessed by individual subjects, and the forms of knowledge testing are precisely defined in the subject curricula. Examination of knowledge, including the method of assessing examinations, is precisely defined in the Statute of the University of Ljubljana from Articles 128 to 150, and some members have also adopted Rules on the examination and assessment of knowledge. The results of the exams are published on the bulletin boards of the members or on websites (eg in the SIS information system, in the Moodle online classroom), which enable students to compare the achieved results with other participants in the exam via enrollment numbers or other passwords. Some providers of the Biosciences programme also provide feedback on student progress with praise and recognition to the best students (e.g. Prešeren awards, recognitions and praises of the Biotechnical Faculty, Jesenko awards). In accordance with Article 138 of the UL Statute, success in exams is assessed with grades: 10 - (excellent: outstanding results with negligible errors), 9 - (very good: above-average knowledge, but with some errors), 8 - (very good: solid results), 7 - (good: good knowledge, but with major errors), 6 - (sufficient: knowledge meets minimum criteria), 5 - 1 - (insufficient: knowledge does not meet minimum criteria). The candidate passes the exam if he gets a grade from sufficient (6) to excellent (10). Success in examinations in doctoral study programmes can also be assessed by grades: - not passed - passed - passed with distinction. The specific method of assessing success in examinations in doctoral study programmes is defined by the doctoral study programme. Within the doctoral study programme Biosciences, the method of checking and assessing knowledge is determined in the curricula of subjects. In addition to the exams, which are assessed numerically in the doctoral study of Biosciences, in the second year students present the topic of the doctoral dissertation and in the third year the doctoral dissertation before a public defense before a commission that critically evaluates the topic of the dissertation or the already prepared dissertation and gives the student instructions and suggestions for its improvement. The presentations are evaluated with a descriptive grade (passed / failed).

A student may enroll in a higher year if he / she has completed all the obligations determined by the study programme for enrollment in a higher year by the end of the academic year.

Conditions for obtaining a public document:

The diploma is issued to the student when he has completed all the obligations in accordance with the study programme.
