  • mastery of research methods of interlingual studies and translation studies,
  • combining the methodology of intercultural studies and translation studies with the methodology of another field in order to obtain new research results,
  • critical assessment of own and foreign research achievements of the Hungarian and Slovene languages, Hungarian literature and intercultural components, on which both are based,
  • development of communication skills for tolerant and correct professional discourse in the Hungarian language,

  • understanding of word-forming, inter-lexical and phraseological relations in Hungarian and Slovene from the point of view of modern theoretical approaches in linguistics,
  • knowledge of older and modern trends in Hungarian and Slovenian literature,
  • independent monitoring of current linguistic and literary phenomena and their placement in the context of already acquired knowledge of both languages,
  • contrastive analysis of texts and phenomena on the basis of already acquired knowledge about the mentioned areas from an intercultural point of view,
  • translation of less demanding texts from Slovene into Hungarian on the basis of a functional approach,
  • translation of moderately demanding texts from various fields from Hungarian into Slovene on the basis of a functional approach and an expressive approach,
  • argumentation of possible translations in the Hungarian-Slovenian language pair from the point of view of translatological-theoretical models,
  • search and use of parallel texts,
  • preparation of alternative translations,
  • knowledge of basic techniques of consecutive, simultaneous and whispered interpretation,
  • knowledge of writing techniques for consecutive interpretation,
  • consecutive, simultaneous and whispered interpretation of less demanding texts,
  • making glossaries,
  • use of electronic gadgets and manuals.

Assesment and completion:

Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

Progress:

For the progression to the second year, the student must collect at least 24 ECTS from the proposed study programme and a certain number of ECTS, which is provided for in the second part of the double-major study programme. For the progression to the third year, he/she must collect at least 24 ECTS from the proposed study programme and a certain number of ECTS, which is provided for in the second part of the double-major study programme, and pass all exams from the first year.

Conditions for obtaining a public document:

The student completes the double-major study programme when he / she completes all the obligations prescribed by the study programme in both parts of the double-major study programme and thus collects a total of at least 180 ECTS (90 ECTS in one and 90 ECTS in the other part of the double-major study programme).
