Graduates of academic higher education programmes in applied mathematics and theoretical mathematics may also enrol in the programme if they have also gained a teaching/adult education qualification. Other candidates may only enrol if their qualifications are equivalent to any of the above, where this must be confirmed by the head of postgraduate studies at the Department of Mathematics. If a candidate's qualifications do not differ too much from those required, the head of postgraduate studies determines the content and scope of the test of knowledge that the candidate must pass before enrolment or during the first semester.

Learning outcomes:

Qualification holders have expanded and deepened the knowledge of mathematics they obtained in the academic higher education programme. The emphasis is above all on new developments in the teaching of mathematics.

Assesment and completion:

Examination performance is scored as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

In order to progress from the first year to the second year, students must successfully defend one seminar paper.
