Graduates of an academic higher education programme who have achieved an average grade of at least 8 (very good) in the last two years (two and a half years in the case of a nine-semester programme) may enrol in the postgraduate mechanical engineering programme directly after graduation.
Graduates of an academic higher education programme with an average grade lower than 8 (very good) may enrol in the programme after two years of practical experience in the engineering field.

Learning outcomes:

Qualification holders will be capable of carrying out independent research and of generating new knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering disciplines for the needs of Slovenian industry and for research institutions (autonomous research institutes and university institutes).
During the postgraduate programme students will master research methodology and develop the necessary skills to tackle scientific tasks either autonomously or as part of a group. The knowledge and experience gained will enable graduates of the master's programme to undertake autonomous research and development work and lead research tasks and projects at universities, autonomous research institutes and the institutes and development departments of industrial companies.

Assesment and completion:

Students' knowledge is assessed by means of practical exercises and seminar papers, and also via products, projects, performances, services, etc. and by examinations. Examination performance is scored as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

In order to progress to the second year, students must complete course units totalling at least 45 credits.

Conditions for obtaining a public document:
