  • Graduates of single-subject and two-subject academic bachelor's programmes in physics with a teaching component, and graduates of non-teaching higher education programmes in physics who meet conditions to teach in the Republic of Slovenia; other graduates of higher education programmes may enrol in the programme after passing a viva voce examination on traditional and modern physics;
  • candidates must have achieved an average grade of 8 or more in their undergraduate programme or have two years' work experience in the field of physics;
  • knowledge of English.

Learning outcomes:

Qualification holders possess in-depth knowledge of a field of physics and understand its interdisciplinary importance, and be capable of autonomously developing the teaching of physics and undertaking autonomous research in national and international projects.

Assesment and completion:

Examination performance is scored as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

In order to progress from the first year to the second year, candidates must as a minimum have completed first-year course units amounting to at least 45 credits.

Conditions for obtaining a public document:

In order to complete the master's programme, candidates must complete the following course units: an examination and seminar on the didactics of physics, examinations in elective subjects, a seminar paper on their individual research, a viva voce examination on the subject "Overview of traditional and modern physics", and a master's thesis.

The thesis must be an original work in the field of physics or the teaching of physics, at a level worthy of publication in a prestigious journal (category I or II from the Criteria of the University of Maribor).

Graduates of this programme must complete the programme by the 30.9.2016.
