The qualification holder will be able to:

  • prepare strategies and address problems that occur in nature in a creative and interdisciplinary manner,
  • develop a critical attitude towards human interventions in the natural world that will enable them, as designers of strategies relating to environmental issues, to develop a sense of responsibility towards interventions in the natural world,
  • address technical problems in the fields of biodiversity issues and conservation biology, in particular in cases from the Mediterranean area,
  • provide assessments of the importance and role of different species in ecosystems and an assessment of the tolerance limits of organisms and ecosystems with regard to harmful human impacts,
  • formulate proposals for methods of monitoring the state of species and ecosystems,
  • demonstrate familiarity with the technical terminology of the field and use foreign technical language,
  • use information and communication technologies,

  • prepare strategies for the conservation and protection of species and ecosystems and the improvement of the situation in cases of degradation,
  • make decisions on problems relating to biodiversity, nature and the environment,
  • develop strategies for the management of natural systems.

Assesment and completion:

Students' knowledge is assessed by means of practical exercises and seminar papers, and also via products, projects, performances, services, etc. and by examinations. Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

To complete their studies, students must meet all requirements for all subjects in which they have enrolled, and pass a diploma examination.

Conditions for obtaining a public document:

In order to complete the programme, students must complete at least 180 credits, which includes all course units within individual subjects of the programme (homework, seminars and examinations) and the preparation and defence of a concluding project assignment, to be defended in the context of a seminar.
