- demonstrate knowledge of the Slovene language and the disciplines that study it,
- demonstrate knowledge of Slovene literature and the disciplines that study it,
- demonstrate familiarity with the cultural, historical and social phenomena of the Slovene-speaking environment,
- demonstrate knowledge of various methodologies for researching the phenomena of language, literature and culture,
- demonstrate knowledge of possibilities of application of the contents of study to the addressing of concrete problems in practice, and attempt to do so,
- demonstrate specific knowledge necessary for employment in various sectors,
- undertake critical reflection and work autonomously,
- demonstrate knowledge of the fundamental characteristics of contemporary Slovene,
- demonstrate knowledge of the historical development of the Slovene language,
- demonstrate knowledge of regional and other specific aspects of the Slovene language,
- define and demonstrate understanding of various factors that can modify language,
- deal with language of a specific phenomenon from the point of view of cognitive sciences, the humanities and social sciences,

- demonstrate knowledge of scholarly literature in the field of Slovene language and linguistic sciences,
- demonstrate knowledge of the development of linguistic schools, streams and currents in Slovenia and the world,
- use computer technology in the research of language and literature and demonstrate mastery of the basics of designing IT tools for the compilation and analysis of electronic text corpora,
- produce linguistically faultless and pragmatically successful texts in Slovene,
- edit texts in Slovene,
- demonstrate knowledge of the fundamental characteristics of Slovene literature,
- demonstrate knowledge of the historical development of Slovene literature,
- define and demonstrate understanding of various factors of influence on Slovene literature,
- demonstrate knowledge of the basics of literary studies,
- demonstrate knowledge of the most important modern research methodologies in the field of literary science,
- demonstrate knowledge of Slovene and foreign literary works,
- demonstrate knowledge of scholarly literature in the field of Slovene literature and literary science,

Students may progress to the next year if by the end of the academic year they have completed all requirements defined by the study programme for progression to the next year.
