The certificate holder will be able to:

  • make removable dental prostheses: partial and complete dentures (partial and complete acrylic dentures, finalisation of partial dentures with metal plates, denture rebasing, denture repair),
  • make fixed dental prostheses: crowns and bridges (full metal crown, veneer crown, pontic, acrylic crown, metal ceramic crown),
  • make preparations for fixed dental prostheses,
  • select appropriate materials, technological procedures and apparatus for making dental prostheses,
  • prepare and use materials, apparatus and machines,
  • demonstrate knowledge of procedures for making dental prostheses,
  • make rational use of energy, material and time,
  • work in a team: dentist – dental assistant – dental technician,
  • communicate in a team with colleagues and professionals using basic technical terminology,
  • use modern IT and work with resources, data and materials,
  • implement protective measures for safe work in dental laboratories,
  • take active responsibility for own health and the health of co-workers,
  • demonstrate knowledge of health and safety regulations and environmental regulations,
  • understand the role of enterprise and demonstrate knowledge of the enterprise process, financial operations and business plans.

Certificate holders supplement their key vocational knowledge and abilities with key general knowledge in line with national standards.
 

Students' vocational abilities and skills and the fulfilment of conditions to obtain credits in accordance with the education programme are established through testing and assessment. Assessment also takes into account non-formally acquired knowledge, which must be adequately demonstrated. Students are assessed using scores from 5 (excellent) to 1 (inadequate).

Matura/vocational course, higher vocational education (SQF level 6), professional higher education (SQF level 7) and academic higher education (SQF level 7)

Students must successfully (i.e. with positive scores) complete general education subjects, compulsory vocational modules, and the open part of the curriculum. They must also complete extracurricular activities, practical on-the-job training and a vocational matura.

The vocational matura comprises a compulsory section (written and oral examination in Slovene and dental prosthetics) and an elective section (written and oral examination in a foreign language or mathematics, and practical prosthetics with an oral presentation).
