  • Secondary technical or general education,

  • the social, physical and mental characteristics of candidates are an integral part of professional competence and, as such, a requirement of this vocational qualification. They are defined by individual fields of work:

    • ASSURING THE QUALITY OF WORK: emotional stability, stability of personality, ability to keep personal problems and work problems separate.

Candidates will be able to:
  • interpret from spoken Slovene to Slovene sign language,
  • interpret from Slovene sign language to spoken Slovene,
  • incorporate interpreting in the user's social network,
  • act in accordance with the code of ethical principles in social care,
  • recognise the need to use sign language,
  • increase public awareness of the barrier to communication represented by deafness,
  • ensure the quality of interpreting.

Verification and assessment are carried out by committees for the verification and validation of national vocational qualifications, appointed by the National Examination Centre (NEC). Committee members must be licensed by the National Examination Centre. Licences may be found here [2].

VALIDATION
During the counselling process, the candidate prepares a portfolio. The relevant committee assesses the portfolio and validates catalogue content in part or full. If the committee is unable to validate all catalogue content, it assigns tasks to the candidate for verification. 
VERIFICATION METHOD
Proficiency in interpreting from spoken Slovene to Slovene sign language and vice versa is verified through a practical test. The committee invites a representative of the user group (deaf and hearing-impaired people), i.e. a user of Slovene sign language, to the test of knowledge and skills.

Candidates demonstrate attainment of the knowledge, skills and competences defined in the catalogue of standards of vocational knowledge and skills.

Providers of procedures for identifying and validating national vocational qualifications are entered in a register of providers maintained in the relevant database of the National Reference Point for Occupational Qualifications. Providers include: vocational schools, companies, inter-company training centres, adult education centres, chambers of commerce, etc.
