  • Inspector of complex electrical installations and lightning strike protection installations National Vocational Qualifications Certificate, and proof of three years of work experience in measuring less complex electrical and lightning conduction installations.

The candidates will be able to:

  • Plan, prepare and ensure the quality of their own work and services;
  • Make rational use of energy, materials and time;
  • Protect human health and the environment;
  • Communicate with co-workers, contractors and clients and work in project teams;
  • Use the appropriate software tools;
  • Select the appropriate measuring methods and the corresponding measuring instruments;
  • Develop entrepreneurial traits, skills and behaviour;
  • Foresee the necessary security measures in the preparation and implementation of the inspection programme;
  • Use appropriate protective equipment;
  • Carry out inspections (inspection, test and measurements) of low-voltage electrical installations and of the compatibility of built-in devices connected to them and of equipment built in new structures, and upon regular and extraordinary inspections of existing structures presenting explosion risks, of structures rated at level I and II protection against lightning strike, and structures with their own substations or own electrical power production source;
  • Carry out inspections (inspection, test and measurements) of the lightning strike protection systems in new structures, and upon regular and extraordinary inspections of existing structures presenting explosion risks, of structures rated at level I and II protection against lightning strike, and structures with their own substations or own electrical power production source;
  • Determine the compliance with design documentation and write reports on the inspection, tests and measurements, also being able to make suggestions for necessary modifications in case incompatibilities with the regulations and standards in force are detected.

Verification and assessment are carried out by committees for the verification and validation of national vocational qualifications, appointed by the National Examination Centre (NEC). Committee members must be licensed by the National Examination Centre. Licences may be found here [2].

APPROVAL

During the counselling process, candidates will prepare their personal collection folder that the NVQ competence testing commission will evaluate and direct candidates fulfilling the conditions under item 2.2 to proceed for further testing.

ASSESSMENT METHODS:

The professional and theoretical portion is tested in writing and orally based on the defence of the written assignments (90 minutes). The candidates may use the bibliography recommended in the catalogue during the written test. The practical portion is tested in a real work environment where the participant demonstrates the capacity to carry out the tasks described under item 1.1 of this catalogue and passes the defence interview.

Candidates demonstrate attainment of the knowledge, skills and competences defined in the catalogue of standards of vocational knowledge and skills.

Providers of procedures for identifying and validating national vocational qualifications are entered in a register of providers maintained in the relevant collection of the National Reference Point for Occupational Qualifications. Providers include: vocational schools, companies, inter-company training centres, adult education centres, chambers of commerce, etc.
