Candidates will be able to:
- review documentation and prepare the workspace and material,
- carry out welding and repair work according to the prescribed oxyacetylene welding method,
- control the quality of work in accordance with standards and regulations,
- maintain working equipment and personal protective equipment,
- communicate with co-workers,
- perform work in such a way as not to endanger people or the environment.
Verification and assessment are carried out by committees for the verification and validation of national vocational qualifications, appointed by the National Examination Centre (NEC). Committee members must be licensed by the National Examination Centre. Licences may be found here [2].
VALIDATION
During the counselling process, the candidate prepares a portfolio. The relevant committee assesses the portfolio and validates catalogue content in part or full. If the committee is unable to recognise all catalogue content, it assigns tasks to the candidate for verification.
VERIFICATION METHOD
Candidates demonstrate via a practical assignment their mastery of oxyacetylene welding in accordance with the SIST EN 287 standard and the European Welding Federation (EWF) guideline, doc. 480-01. The practical test lasts a maximum of 150 minutes. The test of theoretical knowledge is done in writing or orally and lasts 30 minutes. It consists of verification of candidates' knowledge of procedure and method of work, materials and equipment, health and safety at work, fire safety and quality in accordance with the European Welding Federation (VWF) guideline, doc. 480-01.
Candidates demonstrate attainment of the knowledge, skills and competences defined in the catalogue of standards of vocational knowledge and skills.
Providers of procedures for identifying and validating national vocational qualifications are entered in a register of providers maintained in the relevant database of the National Reference Point for Occupational Qualifications. Providers include: vocational schools, companies, inter-company training centres, adult education centres, chambers of commerce, etc.
