STREAM: ANALYSIS OF EUROPEAN SOCIAL POLICY (SOCIAL POLICY AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT)

  • Qualification holders will be familiar with the institutional and political context in which social policy and employment policy are formulated and implemented at the national and EU levels.
  • They will be capable of confronting the new problems of social policy that arise with the intensification of EU integration.
  • Qualification holders will also possess practical knowledge for the analysis and evaluation of social policy and be able to apply this knowledge in individual fields of social policy, while taking into account the international comparative and European dimensions.

STREAM: SEXISM AS A (MODERN) TRADITION

  • Qualification holders will be able to carry out independent analysis, synthesise analytical findings in specific fields of gender research, and apply their knowledge to the addressing of concrete problems of gender inequality; they will also be able to undertake independent research into the organisation and experiences of genders through the application of research methods and techniques appropriate for the field, publicly present the issues of this field and offer arguments that show the importance and positive value of changing existing gender inequalities, and demonstrate a strategic orientation in the field of gender research and theory.

STREAM: SOCIOLOGY OF EVERYDAY LIFE

  • Qualification holders will be familiar with recent theoretical and methodological concepts and problems regarding the everyday level of the life of society.
  • They will be capable of profound insight into the epistemological questions of the construction and reconstruction of the everyday world and the phenomena that this produces (subject structures, privacy, identities, practices, relationships, lifestyles, value orientations) and which are necessary for understanding and interpreting one's own world and everyday life.
  • They will also be able to analyse selected public (sectoral) policies, evaluate them professionally and assess possibilities and methods for their empirical application.

Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

Students may progress to the next year if by the end of the academic year they have completed all course units prescribed by the study programme for progression to the next year.

Third-cycle doctoral study programmes (SQF level 10)

In order to complete the programme, students must complete all course units prescribed by the study programme. Graduates of this programme must complete the programme by the 30.9.2016.
