Admission requirements

  • knowledge of two foreign languages (Russian or another Slavonic language, English, German, Italian, French, Spanish).
Candidates with lower grades from the undergraduate programme may enrol if they pass a supplementary examination in accordance with the selected stream in relevant linguistics subjects (modern standard language, history of language and methodology of linguistic research) and literary studies subjects (history of literature and literary theory with methodology).
Candidates with other higher education degrees must pass a probationary examination in accordance with the selected stream in relevant linguistics subjects (modern standard language, history of language and methodology of linguistic research) and literary studies subjects (history of literature and literary theory with methodology).

  • The qualification holders are able to carry out autonomous research in accordance with the standards of domestic and foreign scholarly tradition and will have acquired knowledge in specialist fields of linguistics and literary studies and broadened their general knowledge of all theoretical and historical fields of Slavonic studies.
  • The qualification holders also contribute with their knowledge to the development and renovation of Slavonic studies (including through participation in scholarly publishing in Slavonic studies), and to its penetration into education or the school system.

Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

Students who have completed all course units (examinations or seminar papers) prescribed by the individual study programme may enrol in the next year of the course.

Third-cycle doctoral study programmes (SQF level 10)

In order to complete the programme, students must complete all course units prescribed by the individual study programme (examinations, seminar papers). The master's programme is completed with the successful public defence of the master's thesis. Graduates of this programme must complete the programme by the 30.9.2016.
