A diploma in the field of chemistry for education or a diploma in chemistry or chemical technology or a diploma in the field of chemistry for education and another subject or a diploma in biochemistry or an analogous field at the Biotechnical Faculty, and the fulfilment of the following conditions:

- evaluate research methods and techniques relating to chemistry education,
- develop and optimise chemistry education methods with an emphasis on logic,
- demonstrate knowledge of strategies for developing new curricula for the needs of teaching chemistry at the elementary and secondary school levels,
- demonstrate thorough knowledge of and develop a system for evaluating the outcomes of chemistry education, with an emphasis on the external verification of knowledge,
- create interdisciplinary and original learning topics, and introduce students and pupils to the young researcher activity,
- enhance information methods and techniques (databases with a special emphasis on chemical and related databases, and databases relating to the field of chemistry education),
- uses techniques to present knowledge (relational systems, hierarchical systems, knowledge bases and inference mechanisms),
- analyse the mental-hygienic conditions of personal emotional development and take them into account and develop them in teaching work,
- understand the particularities and conditions of various forms of cognitive and socio-emotional teaching,
- understand the causes and meaning of individual differences between students,
- recognise developmental and learning difficulties, and adapt relationship with such students,
- identify and develop gifted students,
- identify and develop students’ motivational factors, tendencies and interests.
Examination performance is scored as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).
Candidates may enrol in the second year when they meet requirements totalling at least 45 credits. During their studies, students must complete at least one written seminar paper and present it orally for each subject, which is a condition to sit for an examination. Before arguing their master’s thesis, students must also write an article for publication in a magazine relevant to their master’s thesis.
