The qualification holder will be able to:
- demonstrate knowledge of and proficiency in a specialised area of individual fields of historiography; historical knowledge and historical interpretation,
- describe, analyse and interpret individual historical events and processes,
- recognise fundamental historiographical texts and master the latest theoretical historiographical positions,
- perform independent and original interpretation of historical events,
- use a historical-anthropological approach and apply interdisciplinary treatment,
- produce an original survey article or research paper within history as an academic discipline,
- demonstrate accurate and analytical understanding of historical sources from antiquity to the present, written in various languages and scripts.
Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).
In order to progress from the first to the second year, students must have completed all course units prescribed by the curriculum and individual syllabuses for the first year, for a total of 60 credits.
Third-cycle doctoral study programmes (SQF level 10)
In order to complete the programme, students must complete all course units prescribed by the study programme and subject syllabuses. Students must pass all examinations and successfully defend a master's thesis, for a total of 120 credits.
