  • A completed first-cycle study programme in a relevant field of history; or
  • a completed first-cycle study programme in another social sciences, humanities or natural sciences field, if prior to enrolment the candidate has completed course units essential for further study consisting of 5–30 credits and a corresponding number of credits in the other part of the two-subject study programme; or
  • a completed professional higher education programme, adopted before 11 June 2004, in a relevant field of history; or
  • a completed professional higher education programme adopted before 11 June 2004 in another social sciences, humanities or natural sciences field, if prior to enrolment the candidate has completed course units essential for further study consisting of 5–30 credits and a corresponding number of credits in the other part of the two-subject study programme.

The qualification holder will be able to:

Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

In order to progress from the first year to the second year of the two-subject study programme in History, students must have completed course units totalling 20 credits and the course units prescribed in the other part of the two-subject study programme.

Third-cycle doctoral study programmes (SQF level 10)

In order to complete the two-subject study programme in History, students must complete all course units prescribed by the programme in both parts of the two-subject study programme for a total of at least 120 credits (60 credits in each part of the two-subject study programme).
