  • A first-cycle (Bologna) study programme in Nursing care and at least 180 credits or
  • a professional higher education programme in Nursing care under all previous professional higher education study programmes in nursing care or
  • a first-cycle study programme in other professional fields (medicine or dental medicine, midwifery, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, orthopaedic technology, sanitary engineering, radiological technology, social work) if before enrolment the candidate has completed study requirements essential for the continuation of studies from the professional higher education programme Nursing care (first cycle) totalling 53 credits or

The qualification holder  will be able to:
(general competences)

  • analyse undergraduate knowledge and link it to newly acquired knowledge, think creatively and apply new knowledge in nursing practice and research in this professional field,
  • analyse complex professional problems and synthesise appropriate solutions in the field of nursing care,
  • cooperate constructively in an interdisciplinary team,
  • integrate knowledge and formulate a judgement in the case of incomplete and limited information, while including ethical and social responsibility,
  • critically evaluate a professional field of nursing care and improve existing practice on the basis of the results of research,
  • demonstrate mastery of an integrated approach to quality assurance in nursing care and healthcare as a whole,
  • help develop tools for the management and complex addressing of practical and research problems and phenomena in the field of nursing care and health care,
  • communicate with experts from other professional and academic fields and demonstrate general knowledge,
  • undertake independent and group research in the working environment,
  • incorporate reflection into practical work and research,
  • show awareness of the value of evidence-based knowledge in practice,
  • develop and maintain modern forms of communication, documentation and informatics.

  • present new knowledge to the non-specialist public and the professional milieu and contribute to the development of nursing care through research,
  • introduce and implement modern methods of work in nursing care and the healthcare system,
  • transfer the single doctrine of nursing care and the promotion of health into practice,
  • communicate in a multi-professional nursing/healthcare team, develop and maintain good mutual relations between staff, patients, patients' families, groups, the community,
  • organise and implement management in institutions providing healthcare and social treatment of patients (healthy and sick), families, groups, the community, through the establishment of state-of-the-art innovative systems of organisation,
  • introduce a concrete programme of quality assurance, verification and improvement in the field of healthcare, and in particular in nursing care.

Examination performance is scored as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, the candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

 

In order to enrol in the second year the student must obtain at least 50 ECTS credits. Exceptionally, the Studies Committee may approve the enrolment in the second year of a student who has achieved at least 40 ECTS credits in the first year.

Third-cycle doctoral study programmes (SQF level 10)

To complete their studies, students must meet all requirements for all subjects in which they have enrolled, and prepare and defend a master’s thesis.
