  • First-cycle diploma in: Heritage of Europe and the Mediterranean, Archaeology, History, History of Art, Art Education; or
  • a first-cycle diploma in another field, if prior to enrolment the candidate completes the course units that are essential for further study (at least 18 credits from history of art subjects); or
  • a diploma from an earlier single-subject or two-subject academic higher education programme in heritage, archaeology, history, history of art, art education, or from an equivalent study programme at a foreign university; or
  • a diploma from an earlier academic higher education programme or an equivalent study programme from a foreign university, if prior to enrolment the candidate completes course units in the amount of 18 credits.

  • resolve concrete problems in the monument protection profession and use results for theoretical scientific work,
  • demonstrate familiarity with the work process from basic research to the preparation of scholarly publications.

Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

In order to progress to the second year, students must complete at least 36 credits – i.e. complete course units in six subjects, including both fundamental subjects.

Third-cycle doctoral study programmes (SQF level 10)

To complete their studies, students must complete all course units prescribed by the study programme.
