Admission requirements
  • A completed first-cycle study programme in any field and a total of 240 credits; or
  • a completed first-cycle study programme in any field consisting of 180 credits; before enrolling in the second cycle at the Faculty of Social Sciences the candidate must complete subjects totalling 60 credits from the Social Sciences Preparatory Programme in subjects selected by agreement with the programme administrator; or
  • a completed four-year professional higher education programme offered before the introduction of the Bologna reform and completed by the 2015/2016 academic year at the latest, in any field; or
  • a completed three-year professional higher education programme offered before the introduction of the Bologna reform and completed by the 2015/2016 academic year at the latest; candidates may enrol in the master's programme under the conditions specified in the second indent.

Students will be able to:

  • undertake autonomous analytical work in the field of political science, showing profound insight into the global situation,
  • demonstrate knowledge both of the theoretical basis and of relevant practice, using the appropriate methodological apparatus,
  • work in the field of cooperation between Slovenia and the USA, Germany and other countries around the world,
  • work in various fields of politics, the economy and administration, and in journalism.
     

Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

The programme has a one-year duration so there is no progression to subsequent years.

Third-cycle doctoral study programmes (SQF level 10)

In order to complete the programme, students must complete all course units in all subjects in which they have enrolled and successfully defend a master's thesis via a public presentation.
