Admission requirements
  • A completed first-cycle humanities or social science programme (180 credits); or
  • a completed undergraduate programme in any engineering or natural sciences field (first-cycle, 180 credits); candidates must additionally complete 30 credits in a core module of the first-cycle Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology programme; or
  • a completed pre-Bologna four-year academic programme in Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology; in this case second-cycle course units up to a total of 60 credits may be recognised; or
  • a completed pre-Bologna four-year academic programme in a humanities or social science field; in this case second-cycle course units up to a total of 30 credits may be recognised; or
  • another completed pre-Bologna academic programme or any professional higher education programme; in order to enrol in the CREOLE programme candidates must complete the same course units listed above for students who have completed a first-cycle programme in any engineering or natural science field.

The qualification holder will be able to:

  • demonstrate familiarity with ways of life and cultural diversity,
  • autonomously perform specialised tasks in relevant fields,
  • provide cultural mediation, fulfil coordination and management functions and complex specialist roles in cultural institutions and non-governmental organisations in relation to administrative and professional activities, the gathering, recording and documenting of data and information, and the transfer and practical application of knowledge and information,
  • undertake fieldwork and work with people in different cultural contexts, particularly in the countries of Europe,
  • undertake independent research, applied and development work.

Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

In order to progress to the second year of the CREOLE programme, students must have completed at least 54 credits.

Third-cycle doctoral study programmes (SQF level 10)

In order to complete the programme, students must complete all course units prescribed by the study programme and the syllabuses of the subjects included in the individual programme. In order to complete the programme, students must complete course units totalling 120 credits and successfully defend a master's thesis.
