Admission requirements
  • A completed first-cycle academic higher education programme in Sanitary engineering, or
  • a completed higher professional education programme or four-year two-cycle higher education programme in Sanitary engineering, or
  • a completed first-cycle study programme in other professional fields (allocated 240 ECTS credits), if the candidate additionally completes between 10 and 30 credits from a range of compulsory general and compulsory specialist subjects of the first cycle academic higher education programme in Sanitary engineering, or
  • a completed first-cycle study programme in other professional fields (allocated 180 ECTS credits), if the candidate additionally completes the missing 60 ECTS credits (bringing the total to 240 ECTS credits) and an additional 10 to 30 credits from a range of compulsory general and compulsory specialist subjects of the first cycle academic higher education programme in Sanitary engineering, or
  • a completed professional higher education programme in other professional fields (allocated 180 ECTS credits), adopted before 11 June 2004, if the candidate additionally completes the missing 60 ECTS credits (bringing the total to 240 ECTS credits) and an additional 30 to 60 credits from a range of compulsory general and compulsory specialist subjects of the first cycle academic higher education programme in Sanitary engineering.

The qualification holder will be able to:

  • demonstrate understanding and creative resolution of problems, establish principles and theories,
  • develop critical, analytical and synthetic thinking,
  • obtain and evaluate data,
  • demonstrate management and leadership in a selected professional field,
  • develop creativity and the capacity to adapt to new situations and follow trends in own professional fields,
  • use different methods to monitor, evaluate and manage issues in the field of sanitary engineering and verify their effectiveness,
  • assess, elaborate and evaluate technical hygiene and environmental norms,
  • prepare preventive programmes using modern tools,
  • draw up a risk assessment and assess impacts on the environment and health,
  • prepare plans and resolve problems in the event of emergency conditions,
  • demonstrate leadership and cooperation in an interdisciplinary professional group,
  • undertake ethical research in the field of sanitary engineering,
  • plan, analyse and assess project solutions in the field of sanitary engineering,
  • identify needs and prepare and implement programmes to maintain, strengthen and promote health,
  • prepare and implement programmes to detect, analyse and prevent hospital infections,
  • assess the principles of food safety in the food supply chain,
  • draw up remediation plans in the fields of the environment and health,
  • correctly apply material regulations in the fields of health care and the environment,
  • demonstrate leadership and decision-making skills in inspection procedures in the healthcare and environmental fields.

Examination performance is scored as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

 

The programme lasts one year, during which students must meet requirements totalling 60 ECTS credits.

Third-cycle doctoral study programmes (SQF level 10)

To complete their studies, students must meet all requirements for all subjects in which they have enrolled, and prepare and defend a master’s thesis.
