  • A completed first-cycle programme consisting of at least 180 credits in the field of Slovene studies, comparative Slavonic linguistics, general linguistics, classical philology and other humanities programmes with content from the field of linguistic science.

  • demonstrate knowledge of the principal opportunities for transferring linguistics knowledge into practice, above all in the context of computing and computer-supported speech and text analysis,
  • demonstrate knowledge of the foundations of linguistic science in the context of the humanities and social sciences,
  • demonstrate knowledge of the theoretical basis for work with concrete phenomena of language and communication in society: business communication, public speaking/presentations, identification of the psychological, social and anthropological foundations of communication,
  • strengthen and maintain own linguistic competences,
  • place schools, streams and currents of linguistics into broader epistemological contexts,
  • develop critical analysis of discourses that appear in public (in the media, advertising and in political, economic, cultural and other environments),
  • practically address complex real-life problems in concrete language/communication environments,
  • create effective texts.

Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

Students may progress to the next year if by the end of the academic year they have completed all course units prescribed by the study programme for progression to the next year.
