  • A completed first-cycle academic higher education programme in Geography; or
  • a completed first-cycle academic higher education programme in Geography (two-subject teacher training programme); or
  • any other completed first-cycle academic higher education programme or undergraduate programme, where depending on the field of the completed programme candidates must pass differential examinations in core geography subjects totalling 10–60 credits; or
  • any other completed programme leading to a higher professional qualification valid from 1 January 1994 to 11 June 2004, where depending on the field of the completed programme candidates must pass differential examinations in core geography subjects totalling 10–60 credits.

The qualification holder will be able to:

Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

In order to progress from the first to the second year, students must have completed in full the course units prescribed by the curriculum and individual syllabuses for the first year, for a total of 60 credits. A tolerance of up to 10% (6 credits) will be permitted in exceptional circumstances.

Third-cycle doctoral study programmes (SQF level 10)

In order to complete the programme, students must complete all course units prescribed by the study programme and the syllabuses of individual subjects, for a total of 120 credits. Students are awarded their master's degree on successfully defending a written master's thesis before a panel consisting of a supervisor and two members.
