The qualification holder will be able to:

- demonstrate systematic understanding of concepts and theories in the field of human rights and democratisation in an international context, from the point of view of different social science disciplines,
- apply knowledge in practice,
- perform professional work autonomously,
- develop communication skills and abilities, particularly in the international environment,
- demonstrate a capacity for ethical reflection and a commitment to professional ethics,
- show cooperativeness and work in a group,
- work in an international environment,
- draw on experience of life in at least two EU countries,
- demonstrate knowledge of at least three EU languages,

- demonstrate professionalism in the field of human rights and democratisation,
- demonstrate familiarity with and understanding of the foundation and history (development) of the scientific approach and practice in the field of democratisation and human rights,
- develop skills and expertise in the application of knowledge; demonstrate proficiency for both academic work or fieldwork (as a member of staff or field operative), for governmental, international governmental and non-governmental organisations,
- solve specific work problems through the application of scientific methods and procedures,
- demonstrate coherent mastery of basic knowledge, integrate knowledge from various social science fields and apply it.
Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).
The programme has a one-year duration so there is no progression to subsequent years.
Third-cycle doctoral study programmes (SQF level 10)
In order to complete the programme, students must complete all course units prescribed by the study programme.
