Admission requirements

Fulfilment of one of the following conditions:

  • the candidate has gained a secondary vocational qualification in an appropriate stream and has at least three years' work experience in the field in which he/she wishes to sit the foreman examination,
  • the candidate has gained a secondary technical qualification in an appropriate stream and has at least two years' work experience in the field in which he/she wishes to sit the foreman examination,
  • the candidate has at least a higher vocational qualification in an appropriate stream and has at least one year's work experience in the field in which he/she wishes to sit the foreman examination.

Construction foremen will be able to:

  • organise work processes and directly lead a working group,
  • order and receive material,
  • assign workers into working groups,
  • issue instructions and guidelines for work,
  • control the quality of works performed,
  • calculate work done by groups,
  • keep a daily record of works performed,
  • carry out measurements on a building site,
  • ensure site safety,
  • transfer planned elements from planning documentation to a structure,
  • undertake organisational and administrative tasks,
  • undertake human resources tasks,
  • provide practical instruction to learners.

Members of examination boards for each examination unit separately. Appointed by the minister responsible for education. Appointment may be renewed every 4 years.

Candidates sit a foreman examination, which consists of four units:

  • a practical unit,
  • a technical and theoretical part,
  • a business and economics part,
  • an education part.

Candidates must pass all (four) units of the foreman examination to obtain the title of site foreman.
